There are few moments in your life that are more magical than meeting your baby for the first time. Taking them home and making them a part of your family.
I was invited in to take some photos of Baby Welton, 9 days old, early May. It’s such a sweet thing, to get to join a new family, so early after their whole world has changed. I am always impressed, by families prioritizing photos this early. And I love the images it usually delivers because we are vulnerable, and still in awe of this little miracle. There are only a few days in a new child’s life where both parents change the diapers together, it so quickly becomes a one person’s task, but those first few days, I often see that both parents do it and its MAGICAL.
We started to shoot in the master bedroom, it was a darker room and I love how dramatic photos look when we have spare light. After a while a changer room to the office and the light there was so different that it feels like it was two separate shoots.
This session left me feeling so happy, it was full of raw emotion, full focus on baby and so much love.

Tips to make your in-home sessions easy:
- Pic a time of the day here the light in your home is optimal. Usually this is in the am.
- Plan to wear comfortable clothing in neutral tones. We don’t want you to be even the slightest bit uncomfortable. Wear what feels comfortable and true to your style. Here is a link to newborn clothes that I like.
- Keep the house warm and cozy, that way your baby will be comfortable even if is unwrapped.
- Don’t clean your home. All the bottles are part of the story. The pacifiers on the counter too. If you don’t want it in your photos, let your photographer know and we can easily clean that area for you.
